Come join Thetford’s own published poet Elisabeth Horan who will be reading from and signing copies of her new book “Pensacola Girls”, November 28th at 7pm at the Peabody Library in Post Mills.
This book bravely addresses #metoo sexual physical and emotional abuse, domestic violence, and ultimately sisterhood and survivorship. This gathering will provide a safe space to connect, support and share love with other women.
Join us as local author Dean Whitlock reads from his latest book. Fireboy is the third book in the Carver’s World series for young (and not so young) adults. Dean will also talk about how the three books came to be, including his three-week, 370-mile canoe trip down the Connecticut River from Canada to Long Island Sound, which inspired the fantasy world where the adventures take place.
“A fun, adventurous story set in a fantasy world similar enough to our own that the themes and characters feel naturally authentic. The plot itself is varied and far from predictable . . .” –Christopher D., Goodreads
“Fireboy is a fine fantasy read for teens and has enough heart to charm adults . . . It is easy and wonderful to be drawn into Fireboy’s world, and well worth the trip.” –Marc L., Amazon
Signed copies will be available for purchase.
Sexuality educator and comedian Cindy Pierce will give a presentation for the parents of middle school aged children on Friday, January 11 at 7:00pm. Cindy Pierce is a social sexuality educator, comic storyteller and author of “Sexploitation: Helping Kids Develop Healthy Sexuality in a Porn-Driven World” and “Sex, College and Social Media: A Commonsense Guide to Navigating the Hookup Culture”. She discusses the ever-changing pressures and challenges that teens face as they attempt to feel relevant in a fast-moving world. Cindy brings examples from her research and interviews that shed light on how stressful it can be for teens to navigate the overwhelming influences of social media, porn and hookup culture.
