Coming soon to Peabody: Tech and Textiles! Drop in for low-key technology chats and assistance, hang out and craft. Bring your device, your crochet/knitting/felting project, both or neither. It’s a flexible space for anyone looking for company while they create, or help setting up their new tablet, or just wanting someone to explain what exactly is cryptocurrency…I don’t know all the answers, but I love digging into these topics. We can chat while we knit, click around together, and set you up with further resources. And of course, you can also check out books.
Beginning May 4, (and May the Fourth be with you), Thursdays at Peabody from 1:00-5:00pm.

From 6/27/2023 to 9/26/2023, Latham Memorial Library will host the book discussion series A Hard Look at America. Do you have a beginning reader in your household? Do they love dogs?
Bring your new reader to Latham Library to read to this loveable and gentle yellow lab/husky, who is a certified therapy dog through Caring Animal Partners. Your child can sign up for a 15 minute time slot to cuddle with and read to Dasher, who will most appreciate it. It would be best to arrive to your appointment with a book already chosen, so as to use the whole time for reading. The librarians are happy to make reading suggestions ahead of time. Please also arrive promptly for your doggie date.
There are four slots available for our first Read with Dasher time on Friday, July 7: 2:00-2:15, 2:20-2:35, 2:40-2:55, and 3:00-3:15. Please email librarian@thetfordlibrary.org to sign up.
If you don’t get a spot this time, don’t worry…there will be more Read with Dasher times this summer. If the program is popular and fills up fast, first preference will be given next time around to new readers who haven’t had a chance yet.

The Swing Peepers, a vocal-harmony and multi-instrument duo, perform inventive, earth-friendly and interactive songs and stories. Instruments strummed, swung, and tapped include: guitar, mandolin, violin, harmonica, banjo, ukulele and accordion. Most songs and stories are participatory, and body movement is part of the action! The Swing Peepers draw out the creativity of audiences by having them participate in creating impromptu songs and stories. The Peeps take ideas from the audience and weave them into highly dramatic tall tales. These made-up-on-the-spot rollicking stories are The Swing Peepers’ trademark – watch out for colorful surprises! All are welcome, geared towards kids and families.
