The Closet Artist Revival Show at the Latham Library Gallery for the month of April. Join us for a reception at 7:00pm on Friday April 5th. 

The Closet Artist Revival show is a collection of recent art work by folks from the Thetford community and beyond for whom the making of art is celebrated and important part of their lives, though not necessarily their primary profession.

The idea for the revival came from Thetford native, Hazel Wood’s curiosity about the artistic talents of the community she grew up in. While studying art at Hampshire College she discovered many differences between the competitive “fine arts” world she was learning about in college and the way that people naturally incorporated the making of art into their lives and their community in Thetford.  The original Closet Artists Show was started by Hazel’s mom and friends in the 1980’s and was hosted at the Rice’s Mills Community Center for 3 years. The idea was to get together to celebrate the artist in all of us.
