We enjoyed a vigorous and interesting discussion of “Mountains Beyond
Mountains”, about Paul Farmer’s work in Haiti and elsewhere. Several
participants had visited Haiti on charitable work trips and had
illuminating insights to offer about that unfortunate country.
Our next meeting will take place at Latham Library on Tuesday

at 7 pm.

We will be discussing God’s Hotel by Victoria Sweet​.
This is about Dr Sweet​’s experiences at Lag​una Honda hospital,
​once one of the last almshouses in America​, where she was initially able
to practice medicine with time and thought, while also studying the history
of medicine, particularly Hildegard of Bingen, the 12th century abbess whom
many know for the music she composed, rather than the medical texts she
wrote.
