Now Hiring: Library Assistant

Latham Memorial Library in Thetford, Vermont, facilitates access to thousands of titles in house, online and via consortium borrowing agreements for a community whose circulation numbers have *increased* year over year, contrary to the national trend. The library serves as a warm, multifaceted gathering place, offering an average of 18 programs per month for all ages. Located at the crossroads of three schools, the library fairly buzzes with after school visits from young families, elementary students and teens, while at quieter times of the day, remote workers settle in with their laptops and seniors stop by to browse the collection and chat with the librarian on duty.

We are looking for a new team member to join the friendly faces that welcome our patrons and visitors.

If you love talking with people, particularly about books, movies and community events, you are comfortable troubleshooting basic technology questions and researching information online, and you enjoy clerical and organizational tasks, we’d love to hear from you. Attention to detail, communication and interpersonal skills are a must. Previous experience working in a library is preferred.

For more details, please see the job description (pdf).

This is a part-time position, starting at $18 per hour, with paid time off. The exact schedule is still being determined, but will include one day per week from 12-5pm, plus approximately one Saturday per month from 10am-1pm. Opportunities may be offered for occasional additional shifts, according to the library’s needs.

To apply, please send a resume and letter of interest to Holly Lague via email at director@thetfordlibrary.org or mail to Latham Memorial Library, PO Box 240, Thetford, VT 05074. The position will remain open until filled.
