Most Costly Journey – Book Discussion
Join us on Wed August 16 at 7:00 pm at Latham Library for a discussion of “The Most Costly Journey”, an anthology of stories from Vermont migrant farm workers drawn by New England cartoonists. Books will be available soon at the library.
The book was selected by the Vermont Humanities Council as the Vermont Reads community title for 2022-23. It features first-person narratives of the lives of 19 migrant workers and was created through a collaboration between Vermont Folklife, the Center for Cartoon Studies and the Open Door Clinic. With themes ranging from ethnography, Vermont culture, oral history, marginalized communities in rural states, and the therapeutic value of storytelling, the discussion is sure to be engaging. Kathleen Grady will lead.
