Have you ever wondered about the difference between a rock and a mineral?  Come to Peabody Library to learn about a bunch of minerals, how we can tell them apart, and how they get mixed together to form rocks.  You will work with some small samples, using simple methods anyone can do at home, and share your ideas about what makes each mineral special.  Towards the end, we’ll learn about the kinds of rocks we are most likely to find in this part of Vermont.  Peter and Thelma Thompson, retired geologists who live in Post Mills, will guide your exploration. Best for ages 8 and up.
